Do You Know These 5 Car Fluids?
We’re putting your knowledge to the test this week. Do you know these five important car fluids? We sure hope so, but if not – no worries, we are here to refresh your mind and make sure you know exactly how important these fluids are!
Coolant:
If you don’t like hefty repair bills, you don’t ever want to let your vehicle run of out coolant. This fluid is designed to keep your radiator cool each and every time you turn your vehicle on. A 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water, coolant has a main job of keeping your vehicle at proper temperatures so it doesn’t overheat and seize your engine. Your coolant reservoir is often translucent and located near the radiator. Your coolant should ALWAYS be at the proper indicated levels.
Engine Oil:
Your Ford is made to run with power and engine oil is that lifeblood of that Ford. The main job of engine oil is to keep all moving parts lubricated and in proper working condition. This fluid also removes any grime and can prevent buildup from happening within your engine. If there is too much build-up, your vehicle won’t perform properly and you may be left with a hefty repair bill. Check your oil at least once a month to ensure everything is good under the hood.
Brake Fluid:
We’re always in a rush, here, there, wherever we are going, it’s important for us to stop at one point or another. Brake fluid is the fluid that does just that, so it is one of the most important ones to ensure that it is filled to proper fluid levels. You’ll find your brake fluid in a clear reservoir with the appropriate minimum and maximum levels directly indicated. If you notice that the levels are low, fill up but watch closely and take note if you notice any leaks. If so, schedule an appointment to have your system checked.
Power Steering Fluid:
This fluid is designed for steering your vehicle. Without this, your steering mechanism within your vehicle will not work properly and will end up causing major problems. Your reservoir for the power steering fluid sits at the base of your windshield and should always be filled between the minimum and maximum levels indicated.
Windshield Washer Fluid:
We sure hope you know what this one is… located in a tank under the hood, your windshield washer fluid should always be filled to proper levels. This fluid has many benefits including having a clean, clear eyesight of whatever might be ahead on the roadway. Whatever the season, windshield washer fluid will be beneficial to you.
