Stay Calm, Stay Alert * This is one of our most important tips for teen drivers. Being behind the wheel can be a bit nerve-racking but it doesn’t have to be. It’s important to teach them to stay calm but always stay alert. The road is ever-changing and it’s crucial to be alert of your surroundings and stay calm to ensure that you stay safe.

Practice Hazards * Road hazards are an important part of driving. We encourage you to practice passing or encountering road hazards best you can. Take It On The Highway * This might be the scariest part of being behind the wheel as a new, young driver. We encourage you to take your teen onto a highway in the right lane for them to get a feel for traffic flow, road etiquette, and how to merge correctly. As always, make sure your teen is prepared but we recommend avoiding rush-hour until your driver is completely comfortable.

Keep A Checklist * Make a checklist for your teen and each time they successfully accomplish their task, check it off. This will help keep track of their progress and it will also serve as a way to keep them accountable on some of the things they need to work on as a driver.
