Must-Dos For A DIY Car Wash:
Keep your car in a shaded area or in a garage when not in use. The hot summer sun will make proper car care and cleaning much more difficult if the exterior is hot from sitting in the sun.
Wash your car on your lawn, water runoff will be absorbed by the grass which is helping grow your grass at the same time as washing your vehicle.
Wet down your vehicle, thoroughly. All you need is a little sprinkle of water to rid your vehicle of any loose dirt or debris that have made your vehicle home. If you skip this step, expect scratches on your vehicle once your vehicle has dried.
Use an automotive soap, there are plenty out there to choose from. These soaps are usually pH-controlled and have gloss enhancers to make your vehicle look its best. Don’t use detergent or dish soap – these can ruin your vehicle’s gloss or paint.
Wash your vehicle one section at a time and top to bottom. This will prevent dry soapy spots from forming on your vehicle.
Wet the car continuously if temperatures are hot.
Prevent water spots from forming on your vehicle by allowing your vehicle to dry in a shaded area or a garage.
Spend the extra few minutes to remove excess water from your vehicle with a microfiber cloth to avoid any water spots from forming.
