Spring has finally sprung and that means it’s time to get behind the wheel of your vehicle and hit the road. Whether your travels are going to take you near or far, we want to ensure that your ride is seamless and filled with clean air. That means you need to allergy-proof your ride and this week we are going to tell you exactly how to do that! So, take a look at our guide below and get started on cleaning out your ride today!

Contain The Pollen

Your clothing and shoes are the main way that allergens make their way into your vehicle. That’s why it’s a smart idea to remove the articles of clothing that have come in contact with those allergens if possible. We recommend storing them in a separate area and keep them confined like a bin in your trunk or a plastic bag. Also, keep your windows closed to keep all those allergens out. Go the extra mile to ensure that your weather stripping in intact and every window/ door shuts properly so allergens don’t make their way inside your cabin. If you’re traveling with a pet(s), keep them in one single location in their cage and put a t-shirt or article of clothing on them to keep their fur and dander from spreading.

Clean It Out

The best way to start allergy-proofing your vehicle (and your home) is to start with a clean slate. You know just how dirty your vehicle can get, now think about how all that dirt, dust, and pollen is only adding to your allergies. We recommend wiping down your dashboard, seating, and vents as often as possible using a damp microfiber cloth and a solution with no strong fragrances that will irritate you. Vacuum your carpeting and be sure to clean and let your floor mats dry completely. Also, don’t be afraid to frequently stop by the car wash to rid your vehicle of any allergens on the exterior of your vehicle!

Replace Your Filters

If it’s been a while since you last replaced your air filters, right now is the perfect time to replace those. We also recommend checking them after pollen season to ensure they are still in proper condition and they have not deteriorated over the season. All-weather floor mats are a great way to cut back on the number of allergens that make your carpeting their home. Stay away from air fresheners or cleaners that have harsh chemicals or any that could cause nasal irritation.
