Disinfect areas such as:
- Your volume controls
- Temperature controls
- Steering wheel
- All handles interior and exterior
- Gear shift and emergency brake
Vacuum your vehicle:
- While you’re disinfecting your vehicle, it’s important to also clean up as much as possible. We recommend that you vacuum your vehicle. This includes your seats, floors, floor mats, trunk, and even get the hose attachments out to vacuum up any dust living on surfaces.
Replace air and cabin filters:
- The spring is a time where germs are budding and that could lead to some negative health benefits. Your air and cabin filters keep those germs from making their way into your vehicle’s cabin so we recommend replacing them to ensure that you’re breathing in clean air.
Going forward keep these items in your vehicle:
- Hand sanitizer
- Antibacterial wipes
- Disinfectant spray
- Wash your hands before and after driving
The purpose of cleaning/ disinfecting as recommended by the CDC:
- Cleaning refers to the removal of germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces. Cleaning does not kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.
- Disinfecting refers to using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection.
